GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an online computer-based exam conducted to
analyze the understanding of various undergraduates in engineering and
sciences. Its conducting bodies are IISc and the top 7 IITs. Under the GATE exam, there are 25 subjects including
a new subject biomedical engineering.

Eligibility criteria for GATE 2020:-
- Exam Duration - 3 hours.
- No. of Questions - 65.
- Total Marks - 100.
- Question Types - MCQ.
- Numerical Questions.
- Marking Schemes:-
- For 1 mark MCQ (1/3 mark deducted for every wrong attempt)
- For 2 mark MCQ (2/3 mark deducted for every wrong attempt).
- 0 mark is awarded for no attempts.
- negative marking for numerical questions.

- The Gate score is valid for 3 years.
- Virtual calculators are available during GATE exam.
- GATE aspirants who have a backlog in any subjects is mandatory to upload mark sheet of final year or obtain deceleration of principal from the institute.
- GATE test centre apart from India is Singapore, Ethiopia & U.A.E, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

- Details of valid Identity card- Passport/ PAN/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar –UID/ College ID/ DL. Note: The same ID in original format should be carried to the examination hall.
