It is believed that students are the future of this world. Their career counselling decision not only affect their future but also the country future. Youths are the backbone to set up the economy of any country. Students must know what to choose and how to choose their career. Most of the time students are not aware of the career options available for them. They face a lot of problems in choosing their careers. So there must be career guidance that consolidates them to the right path and can excel in their career.

1). LACK OF AWARENESS.

The very first problem faced by students while choosing their career is a lack of awareness about skills, values, interest. It can affect anyone who is out of touch with what he wants from his career.

2). EDUCATIONAL BARRIER.

Mainly in village areas, there is a lack of school, colleges and educated people. And hence this affects the career of village students.

3). THE PERFECT FIT.

Some people mistakenly believe that only one perfect career exists for each individual. However, many careers share the same characteristics. Hence, it is important to investigate a variety of options that have features in common.

4). CURRENT OBLIGATIONS.

Current obligations can cause a person to overlook certain careers because he thinks he won't be able to properly integrate these two aspects of his life. If he feels strongly about pursing that career, he can create a plan with a set end-date for resolving the obstacle to his path and use that goal as motivation to stick to his plan.

5). FEAR OF FAILURE.

Last but not the least, most of the students left the best career options for them just because of fear of failure. They fear that “what if” they fail in that case. As a result, they choose the career in which they are sure to get success but not happiness and their overall development.

Exams & counselling process:-

Counselling is the process to enter into that particular sector or institutions based on marks scored in the competitive exams.

1). Engineering.

There is various kind of engineering colleges in India. But considering top premier engineering colleges, One need to appear in JEE exams to get admission in IITs, NIT, GFTI and other government colleges. JEE mains is conducted by NTA and advance by IIT. Here JOSSA is the conducting body responsible for all the counselling process.

2). MEDICAL

Based on marks obtained in NEET exam, a candidate can get admission in AIIMS, JIPMER and other government medical colleges. The counselling process is conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

3). LAW

To get admissions in top National Law University (NLUs) candidate is required to clear CLAT exam. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is itself the conducting body responsible for counselling and seeking the admission of the students in the law university based on their rank.

4). JOURNALISM

Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is conducting exam at the central level to offer admission in top journalism colleges. Based on marks obtained by a candidate in the exam, IIMC offered the student at any of the six campuses.

5). DEFENCE & ARMED FORCE

National Defence Academy (NDA) and Combined Defence Services (CDS) is conducting exam at the central level to intake aspirants into officer grade within services i.e Army, Navy and Airforce. SSB has the most crucial interview selection process among all the phases to get entered into prestigious defence academy- IIMA, INA and AFA.

6). FASHION DESIGNING

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the national level examination to take admission in top & premier fashion designing institutions. Admission in 16 campuses is done through NIFT entrance examinations.

7). RESEARCH FIELD

Through National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) one can get admission in top research institutions such as the National Institute of Science Education & Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and the University of Mumbai.

Based on marks scored in KVPY and JEE advance. A candidate can take admission in IISER.

8). MBA

CAT is one of the most prestigious exams to get entered into top IIMs. It’s conducting body is IIM. One needs to give CAT exam to take admission in IIM for MBA programme.

9). CIVIL SERVICES

UPSC is the conducting body to select the candidate for civil services. The exam is conducted in three phases prelims, mains and interview. The overall grade obtained based on the performance in all the three phases, a candidate is awarded different sectors IFS, IPS, IAS respectively.

10). LECTURER

 Candidates are required to appear in the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship (professors in colleges) in various stream. This exam is conducted once or twice in a year.
